Wheat Harvest 2020 - Day 77 (8/20/20)

#2020wheatharvest #Montana #wheat #customharvest #combines The day began on a very low note. My cousin who had been fighting cancer for 2 1/2 years passed away this morning. He fought hard and persevered through a tremendous amount of chemo treatments. He was my hero. And I’m going to miss him! We finished the first field today. 312 acres...complete. It appears to have made about 30 bpa. The test weight was really good - 63 lbs. However, the protein was pretty low - 10.9%. Ryan claims that due to the low protein, the elevator would be piling it on the ground and labeling it “winter wheat”. Not sure how they get away with that. A very short-lived shower moved through the area. Not much rain but quite a bit of wind. One gust measured 68 mph. Probably better not count on a rain day tomorrow ...
