CCP Launches Charm Offensive as New Sanctions Loom

Crossroads
Crossroads
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has begun a new campaign to charm foreign leaders and foreign investors. The strategy comes in the wake of the CCP’s top-level meetings in the third plenum, where the regime outlined an economic goal of domestic production, but gave very little in terms of practical steps in fixing the damaged Chinese economy. Yet, while the CCP appears to be trying to form new deals, another crisis for the regime is looming in the background: the United States is planning to announce new sanctions on the CCP, after NATO determined that the regime’s support is enabling Russia’s war in Ukraine. We’ll discuss in this episode of Crossroads.
