Beijing Propaganda Spread via US News Sites: Report

An ongoing Chinese influence operation seems to be taking the art of disinformation to new heights. From appropriating U.S. news outlets to tapping social media influencers all to support its own message. Cybersecurity firm Mandiant reported Monday on the pro-Beijing influence campaign—known as "Hai-Energy." The firm first detailed the campaign a year ago. When "Hai-Energy" puppeted over seventy fake 'news' sites and social media accounts to push content that aligned with Beijing's political interests.
