Maria Cheung, PhD, Professor Associate Dean

Dr Cheung is Professor and Associate Dean at the Faculty of Social Work, and Research Affiliate at the Centre for Human Rights Research, University of Manitoba. During her tenure of over twenty years, she has received significant research grants from reputable funding agencies like Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Canadian International Development Agency (former CIDA) to conduct research in Canada, Hong Kong, and China. She has numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on the human rights of Falun Gong. Her work on “cold genocide” of the Falun Gong is on the top list of most popular articles in the International Journal of Genocide Studies and Prevention.
