I Restored This Yellowed Joystick and Play New Games with it - Retro Gaming Restoration

The controller is yellowed and even though it was sold as working to me on ebay, it turned out to be drifting to right. I started with opening the controller and noticed I need to desolder the the wires to get all the pieces apart. After desoldering I cleaned the parts in watery soap and put them into my retrobrighting box to remove the yellowing. However I did not remove the rubber pads for the buttons. This was because those can be very fragile and it would be extremely hard to find a replacement. But as you can see in the end, I still had to remove them and clean the contacts for the buttons. To connect the joystick to a modern PC with new Windows such as Windows 10, you need a special adapter. I used this Rockfire adapter for gameport to USB (https://amzn.to/3wqtN9X). I have Windows 10 Home version 20H2, in this video in case someone has issues with this method. Just a Gameport to USB cable doesn't usually work.
