Florida police dog involved in over 200 arrests has died

Hutch, a Florida K-9 dog that took part in over 200 criminal arrests, has died. The 13-year-old dog died on Nov. 4, the Boynton Beach Police Department said in a statement. Hutch began working with the police force in 2007 and retired in 2014. He was the top dog in terms of arrests made, according to the police department. In 2012, Hutch won the South Florida Police K-9 Competition, according to a tribute video posted by the department. Early one morning in 2010, three men entered Boynton Beach High School. One man ran out, then back inside the school, chased by officers and police dogs. Hutch ran after the man and bit his left hip, as well as his right rib cage, stopping him insides the auditorium. It was a typical case for the K-9 dog. For the last four years of the Belgian Malinois's retirement, he lived with his handler, Officer Mark Sohn. Sohn said in the tribute video, "He was a loyal, trustworthy crime fighter who protected me, my fellow officers and the community." The Boynton Beach Police tweeted: "We love you, Hutch. Rest in peace."
