Hongli Xu
In this episode, we interview senior Chinese political commentator Wen Zhao about his unique perspective on the current U.S.-China trade war: that China is acting like the Qing dynasty did after the Opium Wars. The Qing dynasty signed treaties with Western countries during the Opium Wars, but failed to live up to them. The Chinese Communist Party is doing the same thing now with the World Trade Organization. We also discuss why China and Europe are not likely to form an alliance against the U.S. and how China will start going after U.S. companies in China when their tariffs are no longer effective.
