Koala Stuck Up Power Pole for 2 Days Rescued With Cherry Picker

Tom Ozimek
A koala was stuck up a power pole for two days without food, shade or water during a heatwave in Queensland, Australia, on January 9. Exhausted, the marsupial tried to rest on a climbing peg. During its ordeal, the young koala was swooped by magpies, it was reported by WWF-Australia. Rescue service Return to the Wild inc. was called in. Founder Clare Gover spoke of providing assistance. “She was extremely dehydrated and heat stressed from the high temperatures. We gave her fluids and fresh leaf, and held her overnight for a rest,” Gover said, according to WWF-Australia. The marsupial was eventually rescued and released back into the wild. WWF-Australia released video of the animal on March 9, with a warning that excessive tree-clearing were pushing koalas into developed areas. The video shows the young koala being rescued via a cherry picker and released back into the wild. Credit: Clare Gover, Return to the Wild/WWF Aus via Storyful
