Driver in Custody after Several Pedestrians Struck by Van in Toronto By Adam Field Epoch Times Staff Toronto Police say they have arrested the driver involved in an incident in which several pedestrians were struck by a white van that fled the scene. The incident occurred at the intersection of Yonge St. and Finch Ave. on Monday afternoon. Police have closed surrounding streets as the investigation continues. The Sunnybrook Hospital said after the incident, it has received seven patients from the scene. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has offered his sympathies to those affected. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the terrible incident at Yonge and Finch in Toronto,” he said. “Thank you to the first responders working at the scene—we’re monitoring the situation closely.” Toronto Mayor John Tory also issued a statement. “My thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the frontline responders who are working to help those injured.”
