Man Claims The Superintendent Was His Childhood Bully

2018-04-17 22:12
This man confronted his alleged bully from more than 40 years ago, who is now the superintendent of a school district. He stated, “My name in Greg Barrett and I graduated from KSD in 1983. My legal name is Greg Gay. I was bullied. Unbelievably bullied. I started out and I had teachers that bullied me, I had kids that bullied me. Even the coaches; I had nobody to turn to. One day at lunch, I had my head shoved in a urinal where it busted my lip. I laid on the ground in a fetal position as the kids kicked me. I got up, rinsed my face off, I walked out of the lunchroom, walked straight to the principal’s office, and he told me that these kids would grow up someday.” Barrett came close to killing himself after the incident because he felt he had no one to turn to. He went on to say, referring to the superintendent, “Lance [Hindt,] you were the one that shoved my head in the urinal” during an open forum at a school board meeting. As Barrett walked away, Hindt appeared to laugh off the accusation. Barrett said the bullying happened during junior high and he was targeted because of his last name. He said he wanted to legally change his last name but his grandfather asked him not to. Barrett came forward with his accusation in the hope that more will be done by school districts to prevent other kids from going through what he did. Hindt released a statement denying the accusations, stating, “It was difficult for me to listen to a gentleman Monday night recount a bullying incident he said occurred more than 35 years ago. But when an individual impugns my character and reputation as the instigator of those actions, I am disappointed because it simply is not true.” A local news reporter said he spoke with a former classmate who supported the claim that Hindt was involved with the bullying, saying Hindt was, “One of the biggest bullies that ever when to this junior high.”
