Watchmakers must keep up with the times, as smartwatches gain momentum

Traditional watchmakers are trying to keep up.
At the 2018 Baselword watch and jewelry fair, more brands are offering connected or hybridwatches.
"Watchmakers have been under growing pressure from smartwatches over the last 3 years,” said George Jijiashvili, analyst of wearables at research firm CCS Insight.
Swiss watchmakers are making a comeback after the sales in China crashed after a corruption crackdown in 2012.
A recovery in Swiss watch exports picked up pace in February, March 20 data shows.
But traditional watchmakers still have to figure out how to attract younger buyers
and deal with changing habits as people shift to cell phones to tell time.
