Paul Dudal-renew

Maggie Ren
Usually when you have pizza delivered, you want it in 30 minutes or less, have a quick exchange with the pizza guy, and start eating. But when the Varchettis had a pizza delivered by a local teen, what he threw in as a side, They never wanted him to leave. On July 25th, Paul Parchetti was at home with his 10-year-old son Ryan, and decided to order a pizza. He called up Hungry Howie’s Pizza in Sterling, and soon enough 18-year-old Bryce Dudal arrived with the order. Dudal has been making deliveries since October and loves the job, but as the world would soon discover, he also possessed an incredible gift. Upon arriving at the Varchetti home, Dudal asked about the family’s baby grand piano in the foyer. Paul invited the teen to play the piano and when he hit the keys, everyone was left stunned by his passionate rendition of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" Paul couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He filmed the teen’s performance and immediately sent it to his wife. Even more impressive, Dudal is mostly self-taught. He’s been playing most of his life, thanks to early exposure to classical music. “My mom, when I was real young, she got me Beethoven CDs, and I used to sit there and listen to them all day,” he said. However, by the time he played for the Varchettis, Dudal's music career had been put a bit to the side. He has been playing baseball, another talent of his, which earned him a scholarship as he heads to Macomb Community College. But now, the video of the impromptu performance has nearly a million views on Facebook. “It was kind of a big wake up call right here for me to get back into music,” said Dudal. The video has earned him plenty of fans and even offers from local bands, reigniting an interest in studying music at school. As for the Varchettis, they’re thrilled for their pizza boy and have met with him since posting the video. “It’s one of those heartwarming stories.” “You can never judge a book by its cover.”
